TERRYTOWN, LA.-  The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department is Investigating a triple homicide at an apartment in the 900 block of Monterey Court West in Terrytown.

The street is lined with fourplex rental properties.  Deputies say the attack happened inside one of those apartments.

One woman and two children were found dead inside the apartment.  Two others were also at the scene and were transported to the hospital.

Deputies say they responded to the residence at about 7:00 in the morning after receiving a 911 call for medical assistance.  The department has not said whether the call was made by someone inside the apartment or a neighbor, but Sheriff Joe Lopinto says the call came from a woman.

The two victims who were taken to the hospital are believed to be a teenager and a younger child.  At last word they were in critical condition.

Wednesday evening, Sheriff Joe Lopinto announced an arrest in the case.  The sheriff did not identify the man or a motive for the attack but added that the suspect had confessed to the crimes.

Lopinto said that all of the victims suffered injuries from blunt force trauma, but he did not say what weapon or weapons were used by the killer.

So far, the sheriff’s office has not identified any of the victims, but they are believed to be a woman and her children as well as at least one additional family relative.

Lopinto said that his deputies had not been able to communicate with the two victims who were taken to the hospital.  At least one of them required surgery on Wednesday.

WGNO spoke with a man who said he was the father of the woman who was killed.  He said that his daughter and his grandchildren lived in the apartment where the attacks occurred.  To see a portion of the interview, click on the video button at the top of this page.
