Live alligator removed from I-10

KENNER (WGNO) — Why did the alligator cross the road?

At a little before 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Louisiana State Police say they began receiving numerous calls about an alligator on Interstate 10 near the Power Blvd. exit.

Troopers were told that the gator was apparently trying to cross the interstate. They were worried it could cause an accident. But they also didn’t want to see any harm come to the gator.

With help from some Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies, they were able to wrangle the gator before it or anyone else was injured.

Troopers say the alligator was turned over to the Louisiana Department of wildlife and fisheries for relocation.
