HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who is accused of posing as a Dollar General worker to steal thousands of dollars. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.
According to deputies, on Tuesday, Dec. 3, the woman walked into a Dollar General store in the 12000 block of Wardline Road and tried to buy a few items with a cash card. When the card failed to work, deputies say the woman claimed to be a worker at another Dollar General store and could help the clerk process the payment. Instead, according to deputies, the woman walked the clerk through two transactions that took nearly $1,000 from the store's account.
Deputies say the same woman has pulled a similar scam at as many as six Dollar General stores, hitting each one twice and stealing thousand of dollars total.
If you can help identify her, call Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa Parish at 888-554-5245. You could be eligible to earn a cash reward.
So far, more than 475 people have been booked after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
